Job Details

The Design Director is part of the agency’s content and design team and develops digital (and occasionally print and broadcast) content for client marketing programs. The Design Director guides and takes ownership of all design projects and leads a team responsible for the overall quality of work produced by the design department. He or she is responsible for developing solutions – from conceptualization and implementation – that translate marketing objectives into creative marketing strategies and deliverables. 

  • Establishing design strategy for both brands and individual projects
  • Directing the work of those who report to him/her to ensure effective deliverables
  • Continual improvement of department processes and quality

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CREATIVE SERVICES LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT
  • Lead and direct assigned team members, providing regular guidance in the forms of ongoing feedback and coaching, both on their specific position responsibilities and on their professional development
  • Effective communication with team members, agency management, and clients; equally comfortable giving and taking direction and feedback
  • Alignment with department and agency standards by following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
  • Resolution of department/operational problems and identification of work process improvements
EFFECTIVE DESIGN  
  • Quality design, appropriate for the project type 
  • Translate information provided by client-facing teams into work that is compelling, informative, interesting and appropriate for the client and their audience
  • Work that aligns with project production factors: budget, strategy, goals and objectives, brand standards, threats and opportunities, and messaging
  • Usage of the latest and most effective tools to execute his or her work
  • Ongoing quality improvements through education (reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations)
RESULTS
  • Achieving client and agency results by applying the design techniques, principles and methods that satisfy project and company revenue/profitability goals 
  • Creating efficiencies in relevant Weidert Group’s design and Creative department processes
  • Completion of projects within the timeline and estimated budget
  • Accurate quoting that captures the actual time it takes the team to complete a project
  • Successfully presenting concepts and completed projects to clients; persuasively “selling” them using well-reasoned rationale

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 

  • A BA/BS or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • 8-10 years of design experience 
  • At least 2 years of experience leading and developing a team preferred
  • A high level of proficiency in design, web and multimedia software and applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Solid presentation and communication skills, with intent and abilities to become accomplished in these areas
  • Must be detail-oriented, with good multitasking and organizational abilities
